GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

To rent a vehicle from ALFA RENT, the renter must:

• Hold a valid driver’s license for at least two (2) years.
  
• Present a valid passport or ID card.
  

• A valid driver’s license (held for at least 2 years).
  
• A valid ID or passport.
  
• A credit or debit card, which must be in the driver’s name and must be a physical card (virtual cards are not accepted).
  

We accept Mastercard and Visa credit and debit cards.

2. Security Deposit & Payment Policy

As of March 2025, ALFA RENT will no longer require a 500 EUR deposit. Instead, a 0.01 EUR deposit will be taken to store the renter’s credit/debit card information securely in an encrypted software system that protects sensitive data by converting it into unreadable code, ensuring it cannot be accessed or misused. Cash deposits are not accepted.

The credit/debit card must be in the driver's name and must be a physical card (virtual cards are not accepted). The stored credit/debit card may be used for:

• Traffic fines
  
• Damages (unless the Premium Insurance package with zero excess is purchased)
  
• Loss of items (documents, keys, child seat, etc.)
  
• Refueling costs
  
• Service fees (e.g., refueling service fee, fine processing fee)
  
• Smoking fines or cleaning fees for violating the no-smoking policy.

ALFA RENT accepts Visa, Mastercard cards.

The renter must have enough available funds on their card to cover the excess amounts (500-700 EUR).

By signing this agreement, the renter authorizes ALFA RENT to charge their stored credit/debit card for any of the above-mentioned payments if necessary.

3. Rental Duration

The vehicle must be returned by the deadline specified in the rental contract. If an extension is needed, the renter must inform ALFA RENT at least 2 days in advance. A grace period of 60 minutes is allowed for vehicle returns. A return delay of more than 1 hour will result in an extra 24-hour rental charge. If the vehicle is not returned on time and no prior notice is given, the renter may face legal consequences, including prosecution.

4. Drop-off Locations

A different location drop-off fee of 50 EUR applies for returns at Bitola, Skopje Airport, or Ohrid Airport.

A different location drop-off fee of 120 EUR applies for returns in Tirana Airport, Albania.

5. Vehicle Care & Maintenance

The renter is responsible for routine vehicle maintenance, including checking engine oil, coolant, battery, and tire pressure. Any vehicle repairs or part replacements must be conducted at an authorized service center with prior approval from ALFA RENT.

6. Smoking Policy

Alfa Rent has a strict non-smoking policy, and if violated, a fine of 80 EUR applies.

7. Traffic & Parking Violations

The renter is fully responsible for any traffic or parking offenses committed during the rental period. A fine processing fee of 20 EUR per fine applies.

8. Early Contract Termination

If the renter terminates the rental contract early, no refund will be issued for the unused rental period.

The rental includes unlimited mileage at no additional charge.

10. Cross-Border Travel

The vehicle may be driven across the borders of Kosovo, Serbia, Albania, Greece, Bulgaria, Bosnia, and Montenegro. A cross-border fee of 35 EUR per border applies. Renters must inform ALFA RENT in advance before traveling outside North Macedonia. Ferry travel is not allowed under any circumstances. If the renter drives the vehicle in a country that they are not authorized to, a fine of 100 EUR will apply.

11. Prohibited Use of the Vehicle

The following uses of the vehicle are strictly prohibited unless explicitly permitted by ALFA RENT:

• Use by an unlicensed or unqualified driver.
  
• Driving by any person not authorized in writing by ALFA RENT.
  
• Transporting passengers or cargo for commercial purposes (e.g., taxi, rideshare, or delivery services).
  
• Towing any vehicle, trailer, or object.
  
• Participation in races, tests, or contests.
  
• Use for any illegal activity or in the commission of a crime.
  
• Allowing an unlicensed person to drive.
  
• Obtaining the vehicle through fraud or misrepresentation.
  
• Overloading the vehicle beyond its rated capacity.
  
• Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other impairing substances.
  
• Intentionally damaging or losing the vehicle.
  
• Driving on unpaved roads or areas not intended for vehicle operation.
  
• Operating the vehicle in a reckless, negligent, or dangerous manner.

• Lost or damaged vehicle key – 300 EUR
  
• Lost or damaged traffic license – 200 EUR
  
• Lost or damaged green card – 90 EUR
  
• Lost or damaged spare tire – 150 EUR
  
• Lost or damaged snow chains – 30 EUR
  
• Lost or damaged tire repair kit – 70 EUR (if provided at pick-up)
  
• Lost or damaged child seat, baby seat, or booster seat – 100 EUR
  
• Lost or damaged vehicle plates – 200 EUR
  

13. After Your Rental
If you’ve incurred any charges, such as speeding tickets, unpaid congestion charges, or traffic fines, ALFA RENT may be contacted by the authorities weeks or even months after your rental to identify the driver. In such cases, ALFA RENT will:
Provide the authorities with the renter’s details. Charge the renter’s credit/debit card for the fine amount plus an administrative fee. Notify the renter of any post-rental charges via email or phone. The fine administration fee does not include the amount of the fine itself; the renter is responsible for paying both the fine and the administration fee.

14. Acknowledgment and Agreement By signing the rental agreement, the renter acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to abide by all the terms and conditions outlined above. The renter also agrees that ALFA RENT reserves the right to charge their stored credit/debit card for any applicable fees, fines, or damages as specified in these terms.
